I generally recycle threads, but seasons change, here's a generic Toad tour dates thread.

Fall dates:
Free Bird Live Jacksonville FL www.freebirdlive.com
House of Blues - Myrtle Beach Myrtle Beach SC www.hob.com
Rock Stock 09 Simpsonville SC www.rockstock09.com

And don't forget about the summer show: 8/22/09 at Pershing Square in LA, CA

Set list for The Uptown Theatre in Napa, CA was exactly the same as last night's. Except for Born and Torn being in the correct order and no Tubes covers. Oh, and "Know Me" didn't start with the Spirit intro. Glen did tell a story before the song about how the song was written when he was the same age as his eldest daughter and how weird that is, since he thinks his daughter is SO young.

Awesome show at the Fillmore on Friday night. I've seen Toad and/or Glen 20+ times and this was one of the tightest shows I've experienced. Fun crowd and the band definitely seemed happy.

Nice review from the Reno show

Review

Set list was the same as the previous nights minus "Stupid" and "Nanci", but with "Jam" stuck between "Torn" and "Before You Were Born".

Glen also gave a shout out to Spencer at the start of the encore. Spencer and his wife had been at the SF and Napa shows as well and after the Napa show, he gave Glen an acoustic guitar he had made completely by hand! It was incredibly beautiful and Glen was completely awestruck. :)

Was hoping to see something from the Boise show also, and as long as i hear some of something different ie.. 'torn' ' before you.. ' ' know meW ' it will be great. $Steep IMO for the venue although Hey Marselles might do the difference. Toad should be doing Schnitz... with new s...! Hey ! its been almost 15 or more years ! How do they pull it off ?
Where else do i go to vent my frustration ? its not being negative , its want for next . We all support this, but we just float with it at the same time . To be honest I have heard AIW , WOTO , FD , etc... enough. At this time I would rather get Glen and his catalog of s...! And the occasional what i get in force tonight . Its not destructive and please dont say 'well dont go then '. How can i not ? and again its the anchor . NEW MATERIAL !!! We deserve it and have been very supportive , but come on !

you keep using this word "deserve"

I do not think it means what you think it means.

Thanks for always being true Dianne ! What the word means is nothing to what it is . You make me say it again ' more power to them ' for keeping what was then as a way to make money now . Even the most ardent fan is getting perturbed at the ability they have to still keep it going . Portland has a weird but solid Toad following so I get in too damn deep.
Lets talk economics as to what 'anyone' deserves Dianne . Forever we are supposed to thrive on what was 15 years ago ? Good for you ! I dont see it, although its wierd how they seem to get along somewhat now better than ever. Money and not evolving must have that effect....

first off: LMAO @ dianne. anytime you can invoke Inigo Montoya, you win.

second: j.e., i appreciate your sentiment (i, too, would gobble up new toad music), but you make it sound like you're forced to lay down cash for what you consider to be a retread. if you don't like it, don't buy it. toad is not compelled to do anything, let alone anything new. you make it sound like you live in some sort of toad-talitarian (boo!) state where toad decides what music everyone must listen to and pay to see live. you're not being force-fed. you have a choice. either go see a toad show and enjoy it for what it is, or grumble about them not creating new music. but don't pay for a show, knowing full well that it's a 15 year old set list, and then whine about deserving better. you don't *deserve* anything from toad other than 2 hours of good live music, which is what i suspect you received.

my $.02

I'm off to see the Boulder show in a few hours -- I hope to meet the band and get some pix and autographs (bringing 'In Light Syrup' for signatures)

Wiki: "In Light Syrup was RIAA Certified Gold on June 4, 2001" -- wow pretty good for "B" sides

I'm hoping. but not expecting, to hear 'All in All' and 'LMBM' -- long shot for both songs.

Excited. :)

Wonderful Toad-filled evening last night at Chautaugua (Boulder, Colorado). I got to meet and chat briefly with Todd, Randy, Dean and Glen. Saw Dianne too! (Sorry I missed you and the family as you were leaving and I did not run to catch you). Joe Lyons on cowbell and the merch table.

The band play very, very well; they seemed to put their heart and soul in those old (but still great) songs. The show appeared to be sold out show (capacity 1300), plus there were 100s of others listening outside -- families and doggies -- sitting on the grass. A common (free) practice at the venue.

The venue is an historic park. The wooded structure opened 4 July 1898 as a cultural and educational summer retreat along the foothills of the Rocky Mtns. More at: http://www.chautauqua.com/

No surprises on the set list – just the usual crowd pleasers. Seems as if Toad is re-building it’s fan base – reconnecting with us (Toad mailing list, tour merch). What lies next…?

My wife and our 2 friends also enjoyed the show. It was a very enthusiast/cheering/happy crowd -- but old enough now to appreciate seating at the shows - though we stood for the 3 last encore songs :)

A big thanks to Toad for visiting Colorado again - I think it has been 9 years since their last visit to the Denver/Boulder area.

hey michael! i didn't realize you were going to be there. i would have loved to say hi.

we had a good time. the kids enjoyed their first toad show. it was cool to be able to take them to see my favorite band. they've seen glen solo and with WPA, but letting them see toad was something special. plus, they think the guys are awesome.
